URGENT ACTION REQUIRED: Kootenai Health Trustees Invited To Hold Town Hall on Saturday, November 12 – This Is Our Only Chance To Save Our Hospital!

Mark your calendars, sharpen your No. 2 Pencils, and bring your best questions this Saturday.

In early September, the Idaho Tribune broke the news that Kootenai Health was on the brink of financial collapse, and they have been eyeing a transition away from having a democratically elected board of trustees, to a non-profit hospital model with appointed trustees that will make it impossible for the community to have any recourse.

Since the time of publication, our allegations were confirmed during their September board meeting, where Kootenai Health CFO said that the Hospital might face a “potential default” on their debt by May of 2023.

Following these revelations, every single elected legislator in Kootenai County, signed a letter to the Hospital Board calling for transparency and accountability.

The letter states:

“Over the last few weeks, it has come to our attention that the Kootenai Health Board of Trustees is considering changing from a district hospital model with an elected Board of Trustees, to a 501(c)(3) non-profit model with appointed Trustees.”

“We believe this development is alarming and troubling for northern Idaho residents.”

We recommend that you read the full letter by Clicking Here, especially because the Coeur d’Alene Press has refused to cover this development.

Town Hall – Nov. 12th

Thanks to these legislators, as well as the Kootenai County Women Republican Federation, under the leadership of Carla Mattare, it looks like citizens will finally have a chance to give input.

The Kootenai Health Board used the excuse of Covid-19 to begin operating behind closed doors, without any easily accessible archives or publicly available minutes of what was said at their monthly meetings.

Since that time in 2020, the Kootenai Hospital Board of Trustees have imposed Mask Mandates, Vaccine requirements for staff, and have leveraged the hospital to the hilt to pay for unnecessary costly upgrades, becoming indebted to massive hedge funds like Vanguard, and giant “gender-affirming” hospital systems like MultiCare.

The Town Hall is set to take place this Saturday, November 12th at 10:00 am, at New Life Church on Hayden Ave.

We highly recommend that you take the time to read all 3 of our articles and click through the links to learn more about the Crisis at Kootenai Health in preparation for this forum.

We also recommend that concerned citizens that would like this opportunity to speak with the Trustees, call Kootenai Hospital and politely and courteously leave a message with the secretary encouraging the Trustees to attend.
