Despite Education Funding, California & New York Rank LAST PLACE in Literacy — Idaho Climbs to 25th Most Literate State

It’s not about the money

While progressive groups continue to push for exorbitant funding for Idaho schools, California and New York rank DEAD LAST in literacy, despite being placed first in dollar average funding.

According to a study produced by worldpopulationreview.com, California has a literacy rate of just 76%. That means that close to 3 out of 10 Californians are verifiably illiterate.

Comparatively, Idaho ranks 25th in literacy with a rate of 90% — meaning that only 1 out of 10 Idahoans are considered illiterate. This places Idaho’s literacy rate well above state averages.

While California and New York rank dead last in literacy, they outspend Idaho by a very large margin. California spends an estimated $133 Billion annually on public education, while New York spends roughly $220 Billion annually.

Idaho, however, spends significantly less than California and New York with roughly $2.3 Billion annually on education.

Despite the numbers, progressive groups in Idaho, along with their allies in the media, have painted a dire picture on education in an attempt to convince the general public to agree to a significant tax-increase in the name of public education.

Meanwhile, Idaho liberals are citing “extremism” as a cause for Idaho’s so-called “poor” education — while Idaho vastly outranks its liberal neighbor-states in literacy.

The “Californication” of Idaho’s education system will mean higher taxes and lower literacy. If Idahoans are to spend their hard earned tax dollars on education, they must do so with strategic precision, as opposed to the California “one size fits all” method that has failed spectacularly, wasting BILLIONS in the process.
